Plus, how to pick the perfect watch band
Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift for the Apple Watch fan on your list or for yourself, we can help!
Thousands of accessories to pick from
So how do you decide what to buy? A new Apple Watch comes with a standard watch band and charger, but can be accessorized in ways you might have never thought were possible! For example, did you know that you can get a watch band that acts as an Apple Watch camera? There are thousands of third-party companies that make Apple Watch gear, and we’ve picked ten of the iPhone Life team’s favorites to share with you. For the complete Buyers Guide, subscribe to iPhone Life Insider.
Not all watch bands are made equal
Picking the right watch band is vital to your Apple Watch experience. If you don’t have a band that fits right, feels comfortable, and looks good enough to wear wherever you go, then you won’t be reaping every benefit that the Apple Watch has to offer. The first step is to know what watch model (or Series) you have, measure your wrist size, and understand watch band compatibility.
Hands Down One Of The Best Cards Of 2024 Offering 0% interest until 2026
If you have outstanding credit card debt, getting a new 0% intro APR credit card could help ease the pressure while you pay down your balances. Finance Buzz credit card experts identified this top credit card that is perfect for anyone looking to pay down debt and not add to it by avoiding interest until 2026! You can also earn up to 20,000 miles after spending just $500 on purchases in the first 3 months! Click through to see what all the hype is about.
Apple doesn’t want you to know this
I’ll tell you a secret—a watch band designed for one Apple Watch will still fit other models too! The smaller Apple Watch will be 38–42 mm, and the larger Apple Watch will be 44 mm–49 mm, depending on the model. So, a watch band that fits a 38 mm Series 3 Apple Watch will also fit the 42 mm Series 10 Apple Watch! Technically, even a larger band fits a smaller watch, but it won’t be flush against the Apple Watch body—I admit to wearing mismatched sizes in a pinch.
Non-band accessories
Once you’ve got your watch band, it’s time to explore the one-size-fits-all accessories like Nomad’s 3-in-1 charging hub. It offers a stylish way for you to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods all on one sleek device with a heavy base that won’t get knocked off your bedside table or desk. You can keep the same hub for years even if you upgrade every device it charges. Plus, check out on-the-go chargers for emergencies and cases to store your forever-growing Apple Watch band collection.

You asked and we answered!
Q: Why doesn’t my Watch 8 Vitals app show Wrist Temp or Blood Oxygen? - Robert J
Hello Robert, the Vitals app will only show stats like wrist temperature and blood oxygen if you’ve enabled Sleep Tracking on your Apple Watch. If you have already set this up, then it is possible that your Apple Watch is still waiting and gathering data before it shows you these vitals. Despite having years of readings, it took my Vitals app over a month to start showing me all the information I was interested in.

Q: Can you explain the procedure if a senior falls wearing the Apple Watch? - Norma S
Hello Norma, great question! Once you enable Fall Detection on your Apple Watch, it should be able to tell if you have fallen. This feature can be improved by enabling Wrist Detection, which will automatically call emergency services and alert your emergency contacts if you have fallen and haven’t turned off the fall detection alert or moved at all in 30 seconds. As with any feature, it isn’t always reliable and might sometimes think you’ve fallen even if you haven’t, and vice versa. But we’ve heard from our readers that Fall Detection has been a valuable and sometimes life-saving feature.
